About Us
Our mission statement: "We are
a community of Christians extending God's love and compassion, welcoming all to
share the joy of faith in Jesus Christ."
We are a Reconciled
in Christ congregation. As a congregation we voted to approve the
following statement of welcome:
Our welcome and Jesus' commandment to "love one another" extends to neighbors of diverse racial or ethnic background, physical and emotional needs, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We affirm with the Apostle Paul that in Christ "there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female".(Galatians 3:28) Christ has made us one.
Lutheran Christians emphasize grace: the pure giftedness of life, God’s
bearing with us and forgiving us, the always surprising freedom and hopefulness God opens to
us. Through grace we are saints to one another, people whose
stories, experiences and gifts enrich us beyond measure. Click
here to learn more about what we
believe by engaging in some Lutheran Bible reading.
As a congregation, we are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. See our national church’s website,
www.elca.org, for lots of
information. Lutheran churches emerged out of Europe during the
Reformation, but we are now prominent in places like Tanzania, Indonesia and the
United States. The word "Evangelical" has a different meaning for us than
you might think. Click here to read how Lutherans are like or unlike
Evangelicals, other Protestants, Catholics, etc...
St Luke is experiencing a time of revitalization, asking big questions,
discerning our direction, trying things out, getting creative.
