Join Us August 8th for a Virtual Habitat LA-Thrivent Two House Kickoff with Area LA Faith Communities! + Looking for Applicants
Greetings Habitat LA Faith Partners!
I wanted to share that we will be breaking ground on our next 2 Habitat LA homes! With the challenges of the times, we are working to keep the heart of the community connected as we continue on in our mission to put God’s love into action as we build homes, community, and hope. Below are details of how your community can get engaged in both the build of the homes, but also the opportunity to apply to be the family that fills these homes as well!
Here are those details:
1. We’re starting two more Habitat LA homes in partnership with Thrivent and faith communities in South LA on Budlong Ave. (111th and Normandie)!
a. Will you join us virtually on Saturday, August 8th, at 10:00 AM (English) or 11:00 AM (Spanish) for the first of several zoom gatherings that you and your congregation can be involved in as we build these homes in the months ahead?
b. In an effort to continue engagement while having to remain quarantined, we’ve created a monthly zoom event where church members can get engaged with our home builds, meet the families who will be moving in once chosen, while also having the opportunity to learn about the importance of affordable housing and the resources offered here at Habitat LA. In addition, Habitat LA is committed to bring the community together to continue to eliminate systemic racism especially when it comes to housing, while also shedding light on the impacts of Covid-19. Though we can’t all be on a build site now, it is our hope that we can continue to build community through education, advocacy, creativity, and prayers. We would love to invite your members on this journey with us as we break ground on the next two homes with the goal of having the homes built by Christmas.
c. More info. and the link and password to sign in at can be found in the attached kickoff flier. If you could also kindly RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org ahead of time, that would be much appreciated.
d. Hope to “see” members from your congregation on Saturday, August 8th!
There is still time for folks to apply to be the families that fill these homes. Please see the details provided in the second flyer. To be considered, applications must be submitted by July 31st.
In closing, we want you to know that you and your church have and will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers as we continue to learn to navigate our way through 2020. There is a lot we don’t have control over, but one thing we do is to continue getting up each day and asking God for guidance for how we can continue to move our city, country, and the world forward. We wish everyone a good and healthy weekend ahead and please let us know if you have any questions about any of the above.
Grace and peace,
